The two faces of Everest Trek Tour

Trek to the Base of Everest in Nepal and travel from Lhasa to the Base Camp of Mt. Everest in Tibet

This is a combination of journeys to Mt Everest. The first entails driving to one of the most remote destinations in the Himalayan plateau in Tibet - the Rongbuk Monastery below the the north face of Everest and the second, a trek in the Khumbu region of Nepal to the South Face of Everest.

You begin your journey in Kathmandu where we spend a day while your documents are being processed for entry to Tibet. From Kathmandu, you fly to Lhasa, a spectacular flight that takes you close to the top of Mt. Everest.

In Lhasa you visit the Potala Palace, Drepung and Sera monasteries, the Norbulinka and of course the famous Jokhang temple and the markets at Barkhor. The journey to the Rongbuk Monastery and the Everest Base camp
(on the Tibet side) is an exciting four wheel drive journey. On leaving Lhasa the route heads first to Gyantse during which it traverses passes over 5000m high and follows the shore of the famous Turquoise Lake that the locals call "Yamdrok tso". The route continues past the culturally important monasteries at Shigatse and Shegar before turning towards the Nepalese border and Everest itself.

After visiting the northern base camp the trip continues on to the Nepalese/Tibetan border and a half day drive to Kathmandu, The second part of the journey sees you fly to Lukla in the Khumbu region to trek amongst the world's most magnificent mountain scenery.

The trek takes you through Sherpa villages with their warm hospitality and past some of the world's highest mountains to Kala Pathar, 5545m , from where you enjoy a superb view of the South Face of Mt. Everest and a panorama of the Khumbu ice fall and glacier. Your return to Kathmandu via the reverse trek route and flight from Lukla.
