Mt. Everest 8848m. The world’s highest mountain attracts trekkers from around the world. The Khumbu is a wonderful high altitude trekking destination that has many spectacular mountains in the region - Lhotse 8501m, Makalu 8481m and Cho Oyu 8155m amongst others.
To begin our trek we fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. This is a memorable experience. Our flight takes us parallel with the main Himalayan range with superb views.
After we land at the tiny airfield of Lukla our support team of porters will be waiting for us and we immediately begin our trek through Sherpa villages and pine forests before climbing up to the famous village of Namche Bazaar. The spectacular views of snow covered mountains begins from here. We have these wonderful views of the mountains for the rest of our trek. Our route takes us past Thyangboche Monastery and on to Dingboche beneath the spectacular peak of Ama Dablam 6856m.
From here we climb a large open valley via Lobuche at the end of the Khumbu glacier to Kala Pathar 5545m. You have the best views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, the Khumbu icefall, Khumbu glacier and the base camp of Mt. Everest from Kala Pathar. We return to Lukla by way of Pherice, Thyangboche and Monjo.
