Sacred to Hindu, Jain, Bhuddist and followers of the ancient Bon religion of Tibet, Mount Kailash and the adjacent Lake Manasarovar rank amongst the three greatest destinations of pilgrimage in the world. This round trip from Kathmandu allows you to spend one complete day and three nights on the shores of Lake Manasarovar and to undertake the four day Kora around Mt Kailash.
We travel to Kathmandu from where we drive out of the Kathmandu Valley past Bhaktapur and climb up to the Nepalese border town of Kodari. After completing the Nepalese and Chjinese immigration checks we drive the 30 Km to Nyalam a small town on the edge of the Tibetan high plateau. We stop in Nyalam for an extra day to help with our acclimatisation before we commence the three day drive to Lake Manasarovar. Our day's stay at Lake Manasarovar allows us time to walk along the lake shore and visit the Chiu (bird) Gompa There are excellent views across the plains of Barkha to Mt Kailash from the Chiu Gompa. After the day beside Lake Manasarovar we have organised a trek around Mt Kailash; for those who don't feel they can manage this four day trek the time can be spent travelling to the various other Gompas around the lake edge. From the lake we drive the short distance (32 Km) to Darchen, the traditional starting point of the Kora around Mt Kailash. We pick up our guide and pack animals at Darchen and commence our trek parallel to the south face of Mt Kailash.
On the third day of our trek we cross over the Drolma La, 5630m, the point signifying the spiritual rebirth of the pilgims undertaking the Kora.
On the fourth day of our trek we complete the circuit of Mt Kailash and are picked up by our drivers and return to the shores of Lake Manasarovar for a final night before retracing our journey back to Kathmandu and flying home.  Day 01 Travel to Kathmandu
